Heather Larivee, RYT-200: Heather received her 200-hour yoga teacher training from the Kripalu School of Yoga in November 2016. She began her own yoga practice in 2010 as a way to relieve stress and become more connected to herself. After experiencing a traumatic leg injury, she realized it was difficult to find yoga that was accessible to people with physical injuries and limitations—until she learned about chair yoga. It was through this experience, and working as a process improvement professional within the healthcare sector, that propelled her to deepen and share her knowledge of yoga, with a broad audience. Heather also studies mindfulness-based stress reduction, volunteers at various non-profits, and blows glass in her “spare” time.View Our Class Schedule to Take a Class with Heather
I was lucky enough one afternoon to be the only student in one of Heather’s classes. She took time to ask me what I’d like to work on (shoulders and back) and not only did she tailor the practice very thoughtfully to address these areas, she also showed me several tricks that may not have been yoga poses per se, but offered me all kinds of new ways to stretch out those areas using straps and other props. She was so genuinely happy to share her knowledge and to try to find the best poses and movements that would work for my body specifically, I felt incredibly honored to have her guiding me. In that practice and in all of her classes, her level of empathy and sincerity is truly exceptional.
