Join Jessica for a Yin Yoga class designed to open your heart and soothe your soul! Yin yoga is a very different type of yoga class than most of us are typically familiar with. Instead of stretching and stimulating the muscles, Yin yoga focuses on stimulating the connective tissues and joints, improving the flow of Chi or Prana through these areas. This is accomplished through passive holding of specific postures for 3-5 minutes, using the breath to ease the body further into the pose. Don’t let the time intimidate you! The Yin postures are not difficult to hold for these periods of time and are frequently supported by props to allow you to release and relax. Yin yoga is very meditative, very accessible and can be a perfect complement to a more Yang or active yoga practice.
In this particular class we'll work with heart opening postures that will open the chest and release tension in the front of the body, a place that typically is constricted by our modern day lifestyles. We'll also work with the energy of the heart meridian, which can allow us to help clear the congestion that tends to build up this time of year as well as allow us to reconnect to ourselves and others. The soothing sounds of the LIVE harp music will help you stay present for whatever arises in the mind and heart throughout the practice.
