It's NOT a coaster!

flipchipcoaster.jpg

Students and teachers alike at the studio are loving our #yogaflipchips! With these simple little chips #yogateachers know if the #student is ok with physical touch. It's #empowering for all of us and makes communication clear. You should never be touched in an unwelcome way during your #yogapractice. That said, I did have to laugh when I saw this last night. People did wonder if they were coasters when we first introduced them! 😂😂😂 #yogastudio #foreveryoganh #safetouch #respect #yogalove #empowerment #wilton #newhampshire #nh #yoga via

Cats on Mats Round Up!

We had an amazing time with our Cats on Mats event on May 6th! The kitties loved being able to run and play after being in cages for so long and we loved being a part of their antics. Our practice not only uplifted their lives but future residents of Monadnock Kitty Rescue and Adoption. We raised an awesome $575 to help build them a new home! I'm so happy that all the kitties that got to play with us that day were going to new loving homes the very next day. :-) As I said during the class, we wish we didn't have to do a class like this. We wish that there were no homeless animals. But until that day we will do what we can to help.

Here are a few pictures of the event that we just loved!

Thank you to everyone who participated and donated. We will definitely be doing this again in the future!

March 2016 Mantra of the Month

Om-Tare-Tuttare-Ture-Swaha.jpg

Sorry for being a bit behind on getting this posted this time around! But here is the recording of our mantra for the month of March 2016. This mantra is said to invoke the quality of compassion as it is the mantra for the Tibetan Buddhist goddess known as Tara. She is a beautiful goddess who shows up in a variety of colors (perhaps you've heard of Green Tara?) which represent different aspects of her compassionate nature.

Still feeling the #vibration of my weekend at @kripalucenter with @krishnadasmusic. Always such a profound #blessing to chant with so many in one place and to experience #bhakti at its best. #namonamaha via Instagram

February 2016 Mantra

Taraka-Liberation-Mantra-1.jpg

This month in Jessica's classes we have been working with this mantra: "Om Shri Rama, Jaya Rama, Jaya Jaya Rama"

According to Namadeva Acharya, this mantra is said to be a liberation mantra. Enough repetitions of this mantra will free us from the cycle of death and rebirth.

Enjoy 27 repetitions with Jessica through this Soundcloud recording.

Let's talk about poop!

💩Let's talk about Poop!💩

Ok -- you may think I've finally lost it, but yes, I'm going there today. We tend to spend a lot of time thinking about what we put IN to our bodies as yogis, but how much attention do we pay to what is coming OUT?! Probably not much.

But the truth is, you should at least pay attention now and then. And not just when things aren't going the way you wish they would! Turning around after you do your thing could actually be life saving.

Many of you have heard me talk about the Stuff You Should Know podcast before. I absolutely love Josh and Chuck and how they help me learn all sorts of amazing things on my drives back and forth to the studio. When I heard this episode, I just had to share it with you. They answer all sorts of questions like:

"How many times should I poop per day?"

"What should my poop look like?"

"When should the appearance of my poop indicate I need to call my doctor?"

"What is poop actually made of anyway?"

"How can I poop better?"

And so many more!

They do all this in a fun and humorous way while also presenting facts that you really need to know. I highly recommend giving this a listen!

But maybe not during your lunch break... ;)

Kundalini Yoga Teacher Needed!

help-wanted-1.jpg

Forever Yoga in Wilton, NH is actively seeking a replacement for our Kundalini Yoga teacher, for a 7-8:30pm class on Tuesday evenings on a weekly basis. We are seeking a dependable teacher that would be willing to make the commitment to the Kundalini students at our small devotional studio that aims to make yoga available to people of all shapes, sizes, abilities and walks of life.

Basic qualifications would include:

– 200 hour certification through a Yoga Alliance certified teacher training program or equivalent.

– Possession of valid liability insurance as a yoga teacher.

– Computer skills necessary to keep track of student attendance and generate invoices for your teaching.

– Comfort with social media and a web presence that will allow you to promote your classes.

Preferred: Morning availability as well as evenings, so we might expand our offerings in the future.

Applicants would be required to demonstrate their interest in the community by attending a class with both the current Kundalini instructor and the studio owner so they might experience the studio atmosphere. An in-person interview with the studio owner would then be conducted and should the applicant appear to be a good fit, they may be asked to provide the community with a demo class to demonstrate their teaching skills. A final hiring decision would be made based on completion of all of these elements.

To apply, please send a resume and cover letter explaining your experience and interest in our studio to info [at] forever-yoga [dot] com. New teacher training graduates that meet the basic qualifications are encouraged to apply. Applications should be received no later than March 4th, 2016.

Meditation Interview

Meditation seems to be a big buzz word in all sorts of media lately! Going into 2016, it seems like meditation is becoming more interesting to more people, and the information out there about meditation is becoming more confusing! It really can be overwhelming to start a meditation practice when you have no idea what is "right" or "wrong" and where the heck to begin. I was recently interviewed by the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript about these very questions and more on meditation.

You can read the full article on their website.

There's so much more I could have said on this subject, but this article will give you the basics.

Are you looking for guidance in starting or refreshing your meditation practice, even after reading this article? I'd be happy to help! Schedule a Private Session with me or come to one of my classes at the studio. I always include at least a few minutes of meditation in each class. Not local enough for that? Email me and let's see if we can work together via Skype or phone call. I'd love to help you experience all of the benefits of a steady meditation practice!
